Do I have to be a museum educator to join or attend NYMCER? plus
No, you don't have to be a museum educator to join NYCMER or attend NYCMER events. We welcome all individuals interested in the broad field of museum education. Many of our members are students or work in higher education, research, exhibit design, evaluation, and consulting that relates to museum education.
Can I host a NYCMER event at my institution? plus
Absolutely. Thanks to the generosity of our members and colleagues we are able to offer our monthly programs and annual conference in a diversity of museum settings across NYC. Please e-mail us at info@nycmer.org if you would like to host an event, or have an idea for a NYCMER program.
How do I post an event on the calendar? plus
At this time, all requests to post events must be submitted to NYCMER for review. Members and non-members are welcome to submit program announcements that will be of general interest to NYCMER members. The NYCMER calendar is not intended for promotion of an organization or its general programming, unless the program will be offered free or at a discount to NYCMER members but at a charge to others. All requests to post an event are subject to review by the Steering Committee.
If you event is approved, it will be listed on the NYCMER on-line calendar free-of-charge. Submit events for the on-line calendar to web@nycmer.org. If you wish to send an event to NYCMER's membership e-mail list (approximately 300 members) in addition to the on-line calendar posting,
there is a $20 fee for a one-time e-mail.
Submit events for NYCMER's e-mail list to membership@nycmer.org Thank you.
In the event that NYCMER collaborates with another organization to co-produce an event, NYCMER will cover marketing that event to its own members. The collaborating organization will pay for marketing the event to its own members. All questions about collaborations should be directed to the Membership Coordinator.
